A house plant boutique in Fort Collins
Stem and Roots is a passion project that was imagined during the craziness of the 2020 pandemic. Kaley and Korey, plant enthusiasts. and husband and wife had recently moved back to Fort Collins after spending a few years on the garden island of Kauai. Shortly after returning to Colorado they were hit with the initial COVID lock down. During this time they quickly realized their house looked nothing like the lush Hawaiian foliage they left behind (weird)… Shortly after this realization, their house evolved into a magical forest one plant at a time. Once Korey noticed they had nowhere to eat, they started selling some plants and the journey began.
They reached out to their long-time friend David, a local business owner and fellow plant lover, to join them on this new green adventure. They started small and ran the business out of their little home in old town Fort Collins, hosting sales on the weekends in their backyard. After a few months of sales they found that this was a great way to bring the community together, nerd out with fellow planty people, and build connections! Nearly a year later, they found that even with selling plants, the forest kept growing and growing. Before you knew it, they were out of space and needed to find a way to continue supplying their fellow plant nerds that they’ve grown to love so much.
They cultivated a space that was built to invite anyone in! The shop is now home to a wide variety of plant species, a terrarium workshop area, over ten local artists, and the tools needed to grow your green friends. Stem and Roots has blossomed into a magical green space for everyone to come together to celebrate, learn about, and immerse themselves in all things nature.
